Owning and renting a property can be very stressful. The addition of renting to tenants who may cause damage, disturb other tenants or don’t pay their rent on time can make a very frustrating situation.

The Landlord and Tenant Board’s (LTB) role is to provide information about the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA) in order to resolve disputes between landlords and tenants. Disputes between most residential landlords and tenants are adjudicated at hearings or resolved with the assistance of Landlord and Tenant Board appointed mediators.

An action at the Landlord and Tenant Board is commenced by serving a Notice. This advises a tenant(s) that there are issues that the landlord wishes to have corrected or addressed within a prescribed time period. Disregarding a Notice will invariably result in the service of an Application and a Notice of Hearing.

*Please note that while duty counsel is available at no cost to tenants, this is not a service that is available to landlords. Landlords must seek legal advice outside of the LTB.

There are proper procedures in place with the Landlord and Tenant Board that can help landlords enforce their rights. We will guide you through the process and fully represent your interests the entire way. It is our duty and privilege to ensure that your position is heard and advocated for.
